Pet Emergency Preparedness Kit for DOGS

  1. Papers in a protective cover: include copy of license, proof of vaccinations, chip number, recent photo, brief description of pets personality and quirks, emergency numbers (vet, home phoneaddress, other emergency person)
  2. Leash and harness
  3. Food for THREE days (canned with can opener if needed)
  4. Medications and directions
  5. Water dish/bottled water
  6. Stake out and line
  7. Muzzle
  8. Booties to protect feet/ cover any wound
  9. Blanket
  10. Calming medication (consult your veterinarian for suggestions)
  11. Plastic bags for clean-up
  12. Have crate available if possible

First Aid Supplies for DOGS

  1. Elastic bandage rolls or ace bandage
  2. Gauze rolls and non adherent pads
  3. Bandage tape
  4. Isopropyl alcohol prep pads
  5. Hydrogen Peroxide (initial cleaning only)
  6. Liquid dish detergent (mild wound cleanser)
  7. Saline solution (rinse wounds and eyes)
  8. Antibiotic ointment (wounds)
  9. ToxiBan to induce vomiting Animal Poison Control 1-888-426-4435
  10. Antidiarrheal (Pepto-Bismol NOT for Cats) 1 tsp per 5 lb. to a maximum of 2 Tbsp. or 1 tablet per 15 lb up to 3 times a day)
  11. Benadryl (break capsule/rub on gums. 1 mg per lb., 2 times a day)
  12. Medications (i.e. prescriptions, heart worm and flea/tick prevention)
  13. Scissors, tweezers, syringe or eyedropper, cleaning pads
  14. Bubble wrap/newspaper (for splints)

Extras

  1. Small toy
  2. Item (t-shirt? dirty socks? ) with owner's scent on it
  3. Grooming supplies if used regularly (brush, comb, toothbrush)
